Christoph Punzmann is a composer and sound artist, with roots in Peru and Germany. He studied Musicology and Art History in Regensburg and Electroacoustic and Experimental Composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
His work operates at the intersection of contemporary, electroacoustic and electronic music. Punzmann's compositions range from multichannel fixed media pieces and immersive spatial works to live performances in which acoustic instruments and real-time electronic processing form interdependent systems. He also works as a solo artist and as part of Tall Tales, a Swedish-German collective combining compositional and improvisatory approaches in multimedia performance. His recent work centres on the development of the Mycelium — a bespoke electroacoustic instrument that connects acoustic performers through a spectral signal network, allowing instruments to shape each other's sound in real time.
In June 2025, his electroacoustic composition Triton was premiered at the NYC Electroacoustic Music Festival. His works have been presented across Europe, South America, the USA and East Asia, developed through residencies in Stockholm, Bogotá, Taipei and Tokyo.
Punzmann is the founder and chairman of Neuer Wiener Musikverein — Gesellschaft für Musik, Kultur und Performancekunst, a non-profit association dedicated to interdisciplinary projects and experimental concert formats. He runs Superego Records, a label for contemporary and alternative music. In 2025/26 he built Tritone Sonic Lab in Vienna — a studio, sound lab and occasional stage for contemporary composition, immersive audio and sonic research.
